More Visionaire
As I couldn't get a hold of a Visionaire magazine, I decided to get the book out of the library. These are some of my favourite pages.

Format
I'd like my magazine to be in a concertina style format. I have been looking at various pieces of work that utilise this format to produce some rather visually appealing pieces.
Visionaire
This is a fashion and art publication that is released three times a year. I love love the fact that each issue has a different theme and a different format each issue. I love to experiment and therefore I love experimental pieces of work. This is what I plan to do for my publication. Overall it is about mental health and the way the world looks through the eyes of a sufferer. Each edition is about a different issue, has a different name and would be produced by a different person who has suffered a mental health problem. The focus of the current edition will be that of Social Anxiety Disorder.

iPod Touch Apps
I know its not quite the same but... I have purchased some new camera apps for my touch. I purchased Hipstamatic and 8mm. I used to own a Holga but I could never get it to work and I couldn't be bothered with the whole film thing as it was too much hassle and I just don't have the time and as I am not all that into photography, this will do for me :)

I neeeeed to remember to document things when I think of them...
Otherwise I lose potential ideas etc
So list of words to stop me forgetting...

Social Anxiety
For my editorial piece I am attempting to document a journey through social anxiety disorder through the eyes of someone who has suffered from it. Social anxiety disorder is a misunderstood condition.
Definition: Social anxiety disorder (SAD, SAnD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by intense fear in social situations causing considerable distress and impaired ability to function in at least some parts of daily life. It is a rather extreme form of social phobia (SP), although the latter is sometimes treated synonymously.
From initial research into social anxiety, I have came across some interesting ways people have tried to portray SAD.
Fight or Flight response- this is the physiological response to threat
Hiding to try and escape problems. People can want to hide away from the world to protect themselves from threat
This reminds me of a photo my mam took of me and my friends in New York. The photo below is a screen shot of 46th & Broadway's webcam...
Creepy :)
It seems you cannot escape...you are constantly being watched

Card cutting...
When looking through some design mags at uni, I stumbled across an editorial piece which had embossed type into cardboard. This reminded me of an idea that I had had earlier on in the project and I decided I would pursue this. Sooooooooo... I decided to do my article on how people perceive healthy food as bland and boring. I chose to represent this with cardboard :)
I discovered cutting out cardboard is A LOT more difficult than it looks (although my card was quite thick so I should have expected this) and I now have a whole new appreciation for all of those individuals who worked on college Final Show!!
I just hope after all of that effort, my DPS comes out well... :)
