Social Anxiety

For my editorial piece I am attempting to document a journey through social anxiety disorder through the eyes of someone who has suffered from it.  Social anxiety disorder is a misunderstood condition.

Definition: Social anxiety disorder (SAD, SAnD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by intense fear in social situations causing considerable distress and impaired ability to function in at least some parts of daily life. It is a rather extreme form of social phobia (SP), although the latter is sometimes treated synonymously.  

From initial research into social anxiety, I have came across some interesting ways people have tried to portray SAD.

Fight or Flight response- this is the physiological response to threat


Hiding to try and escape problems.  People can want to hide away from the world to protect themselves from threat
